Abstract
Gwendolyn Cartledge, professor emerita at The Ohio State University, is a pioneer in special education. Dr. Cartledge has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Hall of Fame Award for Women in Behavior Analysis (2022), Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education (2010), and the Educator of the Year Award from the Council for Exceptional Children (2006). Throughout her career, Dr. Cartledge received several competitive education grants and served as an associate editor for several scholarly journals. Dr. Cartledge has authored numerous publications, including several influential books: There’s more to the story: Using literature to teach diversity and social-emotional skills in the elementary classroom (2022), Diverse learners with exceptionalities: Culturally responsive teaching in the inclusive classroom (2009), and Teaching social skills to children (3rd ed. 1995).
