Abstract
A MARKSTRAT2 simulation scenario involving teams in different starting positions was used to investigate the influence of starting position on team profitability performance. Although the claim made by the simulation authors that no team has a systematic advantage was confirmed, it was also shown that one team has a distinct disadvantage resulting in a significantly inferior performance. The author discusses the implications of this for both marketing educators and researchers using simulations with different starting positions.
