Abstract
Clusteranalysis was used to categorize group participants by the specific therapeuticfactors identified as most critical to their experience in the group. The 114 group participantsfilled out a critical incident form at the end of each group session and judges placed these forms into therapeuticfactor categories. Results revealedfour types of group participants labeled broad-spectrum responders, self-reflective responders, other-directed responders, and affective responders. Clinical and research implications of the results are discussed.
