Abstract
Combining the teaching techniques of using “podcasts” and “case-based teaching,” we offer the podcase as a new pedagogical tool. This new tool is a teaching variation that converts a teaching case into an instructional play delivered in a podcast audio format. In this Innovations in Practice, we describe how to take a written teaching case and convert it into a podcase that students can listen to “on the go.” There has been a substantial increase in non-traditional students pursuing degrees in higher education. The podcase is especially helpful for adult learners who are managing work, life, and continuous learning. We will discuss the value of both podcasts and case-based teaching to establish the “why” behind the podcase. We then describe how to transform a written case into a podcase. Finally, we will conclude with several ideas for how you might build a podcase library.
