Abstract
This paper reviews the published intervention research in mathematics with subjects classified as mentally retarded. Twenty-five studies were located, reviewed and synthesized. Research has been conducted in three major areas: basic skills and concepts; rule learning and problem-solving; and applications, including use of time, money, and measurement skills. Results are discussed in relationship to instructional practices that have associated efficacy data, as well as to future research issues.
