Abstract
Indirect standardisation is a statistical method for the adjustment of confounding bias in the comparison of rates and proportions. This article describes a microcomputer program, written in BASIC, to carry out the computations for the Indirect standardisation method. The program outputs the crude rate, covariates-adjusted rate and standardised mortality/morbidity ratio (SMR) and its confidence limits for each comparison group. The program listing and other pertinent information on the use of the program are available from the authors.
