Abstract
This study examined the detrimental impact of maritime piracy on Nigeria’s blue economy. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research found that while respondents understood the key features of a sustainable blue economy, they identified significant challenges, including poor performance in fishing, fisheries and maritime tourism. The study revealed a strong correlation between piracy and the decline of Nigeria’s blue economy, highlighting the need for robust security measures to curb piracy and unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s coastal resources for sustainable economic development.
