Abstract
The case opens by focusing on the fitness industry, particularly the increased demand for home-based fitness solutions in the context of COVID-19. MAXPRO is presented as an innovative concept that blends entrepreneurship and creativity through the story of entrepreneur Nizar Akil and the challenges he faced in bringing MAXPRO to life. From another perspective, the case illustrates MAXPRO as a solution that adapts to the evolving needs of the health and fitness industry. The discussions cover the concept, design thinking toolkit and production of MAXPRO, showcasing the interdisciplinary application of design engineering, finance, risk management, leadership and decision-making by the entrepreneur. This case allows students to understand the characteristics of a successful entrepreneur, recognize the entrepreneurial process for a start-up and apply design thinking principles to the case. Additionally, it enables learners to recommend growth strategies for new start-ups while considering the implications of their suggestions.
