This paper reviews the published material on the prediction of daylight illuminance levels in atria. It is observed that there appear to be two main analytical methods available for these predictions. The atrium may be treated as a roof-lit space and then the rooflight daylight factor models may be applied, or information may be used from the various atrium daylighting research papers currently available. Alternative methods such as computer ray tracing and scale models are briefly described.
