Abstract
The theory of the luminaire domain enables illuminance ratios, and a number of other aspects of lighting quality, to be plotted as functions of the British Zonal classification and the flux fraction ratio of a lighting installation. A new questionnaire has been devised for the appraisal of existing lighting systems. Answers are used to define acceptable and unacceptable regions of the modified luminaire domain charts in Technical Report No 15. The BZ classification and flux fraction ratio of a preferred luminaire should fall within a residual region which is acceptable on all counts. One application of the technique may be in prescribing remedial measures for unsatisfactory installations.
