Abstract
In view of the developing cooperation between European countries in almost every field, the question arises whether it is not also now time to commence international cooperation between European countries in the preparation of common recommendations for interior lighting. In order to stimulate further discussion, a comparison has been made between the current recommendations for interior lighting in Great Britain, France and Germany, taking into account the International Guide on Interior Lighting now under preparation by the CIE. Suggestions are made as to how the various quality aspects of interior lighting should be handled and which parameters should be included in the general recommendations. This refers especially to the values of illuminance which should be recommended for various types of task and interior.
