Abstract
This paper reviews recent national and international ideas on testing luminaires. Methods of automation in photometry and the benefits to be derived from computer processing of data are discussed. Proposals are made for the presentation of these data. Tests related to electrical, mechanical, and thermal requirements are summarized and some variations of rainproof flammability tests are indicated. The need for international agreement on requirements is emphasized.
