Abstract
Studies of sky types and standards as well as analyses of daylight measurements within the CIE International Daylight Measurement Programme (IDMP) need a unified internationally accepted system of parametrisation. Several concepts and parameters used are compared, their meaning and advantages are evaluated and a new illuminance clear sky index derived from a set of new sky standards based on the CIE Clear Sky Standard is proposed. Its interrelation with other illuminance parameters as well as with the sky sorting ratio Lz/L v is demonstrated and possible applications for the classification of sky i~m measured or calculated global illuminance are illustrated.
