Abstract
The implementation of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies represents significant challenges for traditional organizations aiming to improve their processes. Effective assessment and preparation are essential for successful adoption of I4.0. However, despite the evolution of I4.0, uncertainties persist due to a lack of knowledge and experience in identifying potential benefits, defining a technological roadmap, re-organizing their internal processes, and coordinating efforts for successful implementation. In order to address these challenges, this paper presents a real-life case study on I4.0 implementation in the manufacture of electrical starter motors. The aim is to introduce a new methodology for I4.0 adoption, covering stages from assessing the company’s I4.0 maturity to developing pilot project roadmaps. The results highlight the importance of detailed planning when selecting I4.0 strategies, and emphasize that I4.0 implementation is a dynamic process requiring ongoing monitoring.
