Abstract
Northeast Utilities (NU) is the largest electric utility in New England and one of the major nuclear utilities in the USA. Faced with stiffening regulatory requirements after the incident at Three Mile Island in 1979 to ensure that adequate engineering and accident assessment capability is possessed by the operating staff at a nuclear power plant, NU embarked on a unique arrangement with a local State Technical College to implement a new degree programme in Nuclear Engineering Technology.
