Abstract
The rise of emerging technologies has increased the importance of proximity, emphasising its significance in optimising user experiences and enhancing efficiency across various domains, particularly in Higher Education (HE). Based on Boschma’s (2005) notion of ‘proximity’, this investigation explores how integrating several proximity dimensions into teaching practices can foster learning in entrepreneurship education. This transdisciplinary investigation is a mixed-methods approach, integrating qualitative and quantitative techniques. The research process is strengthened by a comprehensive strategy involving structured surveys, in-depth discussions, and cross-examination of data with experts, and it is supplemented by abductive reasoning from publications. By analysing the teaching of the Value Proposition (VP) to Master students, this paper fills a gap in the fields of HE and Management with regard to the learning of the VP, and its importance for innovative practices. Furthermore, this investigation proposes an updated and nuanced interpretation of Boschma’s (2005) five dimensions of proximity, specifically within the context of entrepreneurial learning in HE institutions. The research aims to bridge academic theory with practical applications, fostering collaboration and value creation within innovation ecosystems. Ultimately, understanding proximity can drive advancements in operational efficiency and innovative breakthroughs in educational settings.
