Abstract
This article presents a summary of the National Task Force Report, Identifying Learning Disabled Students: Guidelines for Decision Making, which identified promising practices and procedures currently being used to identify LD students in the nation's schools. Thereport is based on a national survey and, therefore, represents the current thinking and directions of educational leaders in both state and local educational agencies who have the responsibility for referral, assessment, and identification of students with specific learning disabilities. It is important to understand that the practices and procedures included do not represent definitive solutions to the problem of LD identification. Theydo, however, represent promising directions for developing more adequate identification procedures for our schools. Copies of the complete report may be purchased for $10.00 from the Northeast Regional Resource Center, Trinity College, Burlington, VT05401.
