This article provides an in-depth look at the multimedia aspects of HyperRESEARCH, a computer- assisted program for analyzing qualitative data. The authors describe in detail how the Hyper RESEARCH program analyzes audio, videodisc, videotape, and still images. They argue that although the inclusion of multimedia data allows for a much more comprehensive analysis of research materials, there are important data analysis issues and ethical problems involved in this process.
