Abstract
The possible emergence of a new technology-related way of life implied by the interest in cyberspace raises a variety of issues that demand social research. Understanding the social correlates of advanced technology involves investigating the several specific areas of research described in this article, but it also means seeing how each specific area relates to the broader sweep of possible cultural changes.
