Experimental investigations have been carried out on APC-2 (polyether ether ketone/carbon fibre) laminates to address generic problems governing performance. Mechanical response in tension of laminates of different constructions (uniaxial, cross- and angle-plied, and quasi-isotropic) is reviewed in terms of composite stiffness and ulti mate failure characteristics (strength and strain).
