The main question regarding school effectiveness has to do with those factors that influence student's academic performance. One of these factors is the leadership style adopted by school principals. This article investigates whether the Holistic Leadership Model is valid in the Greek context and what is the most commonly used leadership style by the principals of the effective schools. School effectiveness, student academic performance, and the effect of educational leadership on them occupy a central place in the literature review. Additionally, the Holistic Leadership Model, which is appropriated by this research effort, holds a dominant position. By employing quantitative modes of inquiry and a significant number of questionnaires, we concluded that the Holistic Leadership Model is valid in the Greek context and that the Structuring leadership style is the most frequently utilized in the effective schools of the sample.
