Abstract
A national survey of special education coursework requirements for preservice regular education teachers was conducted. The purposes were (a) to identify specific content of these required special education courses, (b) to identify individual universitylcollege and state certification credit hour requirements in the area of special education, and (c) to identify the types of direct experiences with exceptional learners and parents as required in the course work. Results, implications, and conclusions are discussed.
