Abstract
The textile industry lacks an objective approach for determining the level of comfort and amount of free movement in narrow skirts. My research focused on developing a model for predicting the level of comfort and movement of narrow skirts sewn according to the fabric mechanical property of the Fabric Assurance by Simples Testing (FAST) system. Fabric mechanical properties of G (shear stiffness), B (bending rigidity), F (formability), and E100 (extensibility at a load of 100 gf/cm) were included in the model. The artificial neural network method, based on fabric mechanical properties, was used to establish the model. The model revealed a correlation coefficient between the predicted value and the practical value as high as 0.98. The mean value of residual absolute stood at 0.3. These numbers demonstrate the excellent predictability of this model.
