This article explores the tensions and contradictions between feminist values
and ideology and the values and realities of direct practice. It presents a series
of personal and professional dilemmas that emerge when social workers
attempt to implement their feminist values in a practice arena. The author
calls on the profession and on individual practitioners to engage in self-examination and dialogue to deepen understanding, resolve conflicts, and
serve clients better.
