Abstract
Margot JL (2015) Insufficient evidence of purported lunar effect on pollination in Ephedra. J Biol Rhythms 30(5): 454-456. DOI: 10.1177/0748730415591662
The assignment of delta values in this communication, as unsigned time intervals ranging from 0 to 14 days, reflected days between the event and the preceding or subsequent full moon. A consideration of signed time intervals, from -14 to 14 days, is more accurate. While this modification does not alter the substance or conclusion of the paper, it does correct the probabilities, as follows:
On pp. 454-456:
All 5 instances of integer 15 should read 29 (DOM values are unchanged).
All 7 instances of integer 96 should read 189 (DOY values are unchanged).
All 7 instances of integer 3375 should read 24389.
All 2 instances of integer 844 should read 3484.
On p. 454:
The sentence “To properly assess the coincidence of an event with the full moon, a useful metric is the unsigned time interval …” should read “To properly assess the coincidence of an event with the full moon, a useful metric is the time interval …”.
All 4 instances of Δi should read as absolute value |Δi| (i = 1,2,3).
All 3 instances of integer 0 should read −14.
All 2 instances of integer 35 should read 129.
On p. 455:
All 4 instances of Δ should read as absolute value |Δ|.
“4 outcomes” should read “7 outcomes”.
“1 outcome” should read “2 outcomes”.
“10 other outcomes” should read “20 other outcomes”.
The sequence of integers {37, 23, 402, 1644, 60, 40, 28, 20, 12} should read {59, 35, 1037, 5615, 106, 65, 42, 29, 16}.
