The Hermon Hutchens School in Valdez, Alaska, was designed to accommodate handicapped and nonhandicapped students in one educational setting. Some of the problems encountered in the design process, community acceptance of the school, and special educational programming are presented. The adapted features of the school which attempt to meet the needs of the special population served also are discussed.
