Individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) present challenges in the areas of socialization, emotional expression, and behavior. Appropriate assessment of these areas is essential for determining appropriate intervention strategies. Conducting a functional behavioral assessment (FBA) is an integral part of the assessment process. This article focuses specifically on techniques and instruments that are used when conducting a behavioral, social, and emotional assessment of students with ASD.
