Abstract
Bagasse fiber is a residue of the sugar cane milling process. In this research bagasse fiber has been used as a reinforcing component in epoxy resin to open up further possibilities in waste management. The chemical treatment acetylation was carried out to modify the fiber properties. The effect of fiber treatment on the mechanical properties such as flexural strength has been studied. It has been shown that treated fiber composites shows improved strength. SEM investigation also indicates that the surface modifications improve the fiber—matrix interaction.
