Abstract
A series of meta kaolin (MK, clay) filler incorporated chain extended castable polyurethane (PU) [100/0, 90/10, 80/20, and 70/30 PU/MK], based on castor oil and 2,4-toluene diisocyanate (TDI) with tartaric acid as chain extender, were synthesized. The effect of meta kaolin loading on the physico-mechanical properties and chemical resistance of filled chain extended PU have been studied. From the tensile behavior it was noticed that a drastic improvement in tensile strength and tensile modulus increased with filler content. It was observed that the PU composites showed more resistance to acid compared to alkali.
