Abstract
In this paper, a study of the coefficients of hygrothermal expansion for the [30]4s, [45]4s and [60]4s angle-ply laminates is presented. From the classical hygrothermal-elastic lamination theory, a simple dimensionless analysis has been used to evaluate the coefficients of hygrothermal expansion in the angle-ply laminates. Also, the influence of the various lamina material properties such as Young0s modulus, shear modulus, Poisson’s ratio and hygrothermal expansion coefficients on the coefficients of hygrothermal expansion behavior of the angle-ply laminates is studied. The results from this dimensionless analysis provide a set of general guidelines for designing the values of the coefficients of hygrothermal expansion of the angle-ply laminates to meet different environment conditions in engineering applications.
