Abstract
Minimum and maximum values of the ratio and difference of the values of longitudinal and transverse moduli of a multiphase composite body are obtained in this paper when the moduli of the constituents take values in a given finite interval. A numerical example is presented to test the validity of the results and it is shown that the bounds are useful in interpreting the mechanical behavior of multiphase composite bodies. The constituents of the composite are assumed to be homogeneous and isotropic.
