A block training course in group analysis had been going on in Zagreb for three years, with the author, a trainee, a participant member. The course included a large group that in the author's opinion reflected well many aspects of the so-called `Yugoslav crisis', and its tragic consequences. The author reflects upon some possible reasons why this particular large group was unable to create a `persistent pressure of dialogue' (de Mare, 1975).
