The clinical and psychopathological symptoms of the patient with anorexic illnesses are not uniform, but are detennined by the extent of biological disturbance, especially the functional immaturity of the limbic-reticular system, and the age at which the illness was contracted, how long it has lasted, the life story of the patient and the relationship between the patient and his or her family (Ehle, 1988).
