This paper attempts to look at the adolescent experience as a kind of tertiary stage
of omnipotent development. If this ‘third time lucky’ scenario
is played out against a benign or benevolent background then more ordinary
development ensues. If met with belligerence, fear or retaliation then a route to
delinquency may be opened up. An adolescent therapy group is used to illustrate this thesis.
