New treatment for resistant hypertension is catheter-based renal denervation. We have submitted to this treatment 3 hypertensive patients. These patients had severe hypertension, although using at least 5 different lowering pressure drugs. We obtained a blood pressure reduction > 10 mmHg after 12 months without any side effect. Other literature experiences agree with our results. Anyway other studies are necessary to confirm these positive results. But the cost of the technique is high.
