Abstract
– Percutaneous nephrolithotripsy is an excellent method for treating staghorn or coralliform stones rather than by extracorporeal lithotripsy or surgery. The method features relatively easy execution, low morbility, reduced hospital stay, rare and mostly modest complications. Greatly improved advanced lithotripsy techniques, easy identification of the approach route by echo-guided puncture and if necessary the combination with extracorporeal lithotripsy make the method today even more effective and safe. This study reviews the indications, advantages and complications of the technique.
