The Authors consider the role of photographs, drawings and/or tables in written reports. The aim of an image is to “launch a message to the reader”. The necessary characteristics of drawings, tables and numerical data are therefore described, whereby an appropriate, precise, legible, understandable message, capable of being memorised, can be presented to the reader. The importance of careful statistical assessment is also underlined and the various forms for graphically presenting statistical data are given.
