A spiral urethral prosthesis was inserted under local anesthesia in 6 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia and 2 patients with cancer of the prostate, using ultrasonic guidance. All the patients had either refused the surgical procedure or were a high operative risk. The Authors showed the usefulness of ultrasound for insertion of the intraprostatic spiral in selected patients.
