Abstract
The computerised management of a Department of urology requires a local area network connected to the hospital network. In a Department of urology various and complex procedures are carried out. Only some of them are purely medical and provide the data which make up the clinical records. The data regarding diagnostic and therapeutic procedures carried out in the Department of urology make up the specific urological part of computerised clinical records. The programmes for the management of databases must be powerful enough to make operations simple and intuitive. The role of the urologist is essential for the correct design of databases and application routines.
