Abstract
Deformation and fracture of Al/SiC multilayered graded material under three-point-bending loading is investigated experimentally. First, the full-field deformations of Al/SiC multilayered graded material under different load levels are obtained by digital image correlation method; also, the crack propagation path and deflection of the layered graded material are visualized. Second, the strain histories of Al/SiC multilayered graded material are obtained, which show a good agreement with those from the strain gauge. Finally, the deformation characterizations and fracture mechanism in Al/SiC multilayered graded material are analyzed, including damage evolution, crack initiation, interfacial debonding and crack propagation. The results play an important role in designing and evaluating the advanced multilayered graded material.
