Abstract
The order of succession of the High Priests of Amun Herihor and Piankh is still much disputed. Recently Peter James and Robert Morkot proposed a scenario in which the pontificate of Piankh is placed within the reign of Herihor as a king, which in their view coincided with the later years of Ramesses XI. However it appears that the theory of Karl Jansen-Winkeln, in which Piankh is Herihor's predecessor, is preferable in view of the Libyan background of the individuals involved.
