The results of research on the polymerisation and copolymerisation of N-vinylsuccinimide in aqueous media are generalised. An examination is made of the effect of solvent water on processes of interaction of monomers with components of the reaction medium, on the redistribution of electron density in monomer molecules, and on the creation of the prerequisites for the occurrence of processes of targeted synthesis of polymers and the formation of macromolecules with certain alternation of the monomer units.
