Abstract
An investigation was made of the change in the parameters of oxidation of polyethylene (PE) in the presence of a phenolic antioxidant in the temperature range 80–210°C. In the region of the melting point of polyethylene, about 108°C, inflections occur on the curves of the dependence of a number of oxidation parameters. A considerable difference was found in the properties of an entirely molten polymeric substance and an amorphous substance of the same composition but kept below melting point.
