Abstract
Hanan Mikhail Ashrawi was born in Nablus, Palestine in 1946. At one time a spokeswoman for the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories, and now a professor of English literature at Bir Zeit University in the West Bank, she has recently published a personal account of the Palestinian national struggle, This Side of Peace (Simon and Schuster, June 1995).
