Abstract
A differential diagnosis between cancer and diverticulitis of sigma is possible on the basis of the radiological findings. The main signs for diverticulitis are: preservation of mucosal folds; presence of considerable local functional disturbances, with no sharp edge of the lesion; fringed and very irregular contours and rapid change of this pattern; remarkable length of the stenotic segment; lack of retrodilatation; presence of diverticula proximal to the narrowed area and even within it; pain on palpation during radioscopical examination.
