Two OAPP emphases that do represent a departure from the NICHD initiatives are (1) the interest in studying mass media effects on adolescent sexual socialization and behavior and (2) the reasons underlying pregnant adolescents' decisions to either keep their babies or give them up for adoption (including evaluations of adoption counseling programs).
