Abstract
Orthotic devices can be useful in overcoming some functional handicaps which are produced by many pathological conditions. When impaired function affects the fine motor activity of the hands, handwriting can be totally disrupted. A special orthotic device has been developed to supply specific help for patients with handwriting difficulties. This method, which needs only one finger, or part of a finger, aids written communication and the development of functional motor skills, even when using the nondominant hand.
