Recurrent varicose veins are often regarded as inevitable. To confirm or refute this point we have analysed the last 20 patients operated on in our vascular unit.
Results have shown that majority of recurrences were due to inadequate primary treatment, with inadequate ligation of sapheno–femoral junction the most frequent cause.
