Abstract
The effects of combined action of ultrasonic pretreatment Al-5Ti-1B and ultrasonic treatment on microstructure and properties of 2219 Al alloy were studied in this work. The results demonstrate that the combined effect of ultrasonic pretreatment Al-5Ti-1B and ultrasonic treatment reduces the macro-segregation rate of copper (Cu). Additionally, the distribution of α-Al grain size became more uniform, and the average grain size decreases from 262μm to 96μm, with a grain refinement rate of 63.4%. The Al2Cu phase was also refined to a certain extent, and the coarse reticular structure distribution was reduced. Correspondingly, the 2219 Al alloy samples exhibited better mechanical properties, with the ultimate tensile strength and Vickers hardness of 256.6 MPa and 151.2HV, which were enhanced by 29.4% and 22.5%, respectively.
