Abstract
A new dual-phase titanium alloy Ti-5Al-5Mo-2V-2Cr-2Sn-2Zr has shown good application potential in aerospace and shipbuilding industries. This study aims to investigate the texture evolution mechanism of Ti-5Al-5Mo-2V-2Cr-2Sn-2Zr alloy processed in β single-phase region. Thermal simulation, X-ray diffraction and electron back-scatter diffraction were used to test and analyse the microstructure and texture. The <100> // compression direction (CD) texture is enhanced with deformation. Schmid factor (SF) of <111> //CD and <100> //CD grains are calculated. <100> //CD-oriented grains with higher SF are soft oriented grains and more favourable for the deformation coordination. Finally, the texture strengthened by continuous and discontinuous dynamic recrystallization behaviours is analysed in depth.
